SEELANGS is a discussion list.  It is not a "LISTSERV."  A "LISTSERV" is actually a network-connected server, on which is running the LISTSERV software that is used to administer discussion lists.  Prior to the mid-1990s, when the World Wide Web came into popular use, LISTSERV lists were administered by e-mail and subscribers controlled their own subscriptions by e-mail.  To this day, some people continue to interact with LISTSERV servers using only e-mail.

However, today, interacting with LISTSERV can now be done using the Web and your favorite Web browser.  For you, the subscribers of the SEELANGS list, that means using the LISTSERV Web Interface that is part of the University of Alabama's LISTSERV server.  Before you can take full advantage of the features of the Web Interface, you must first ASSIGN YOURSELF A LISTSERV PASSWORD.  Your LISTSERV password will be a password of your own choosing, and during the process of registering it, the e-mail address you provide must be the address from which you are subscribed to the list.  The first time you use your LISTSERV password to log in to the Web Interface, it will be saved in a cookie on your computer and you will only have to enter it again if you delete your cookies.  (If you change your subscription address, you will have to register a LISTSERV password again.)

NOTE: If you forget your LISTSERV password, all you have to do is assign yourself a LISTSERV password (again), and the new password will immediately take effect (overwriting the old one).

NOTE: Registering a LISTSERV password merely allows you to authenticate yourself to the LISTSERV server.  If you are not yet subscribed to the SEELANGS list, registering a LISTSERV password will not subscribe you.  You must also subscribe (click "How to Subscribe" above).

Click on the buttons above to use the Web Interface to post to the SEELANGS list, to manage your own subscription options in the Subscriber's Corner, to execute a LISTSERV command and to search the SEELANGS Archives.  When you click on one of these buttons, the Web Interface page will open in a new browser window or tab.
